Edmonton singer/songwriter Mohsin Zaman has been described as an old hand at being a new comer.
The 2016 Male Artist of the Year at the Edmonton Music Awards will make his first-ever appearance in Lloydminster on Oct. 29.
Zaman is coming here to showcase his unique vocal and guitar stylings at the home of Rhonda and Hal Burns, as hosts of the Home Routes concert series.
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Burns’ home, at 5732-51 Street in Lloydminster, with $20 admission for adults and children 12 and under free.
“We are excited to welcome Mohsin Zaman,” said Rhonda Burns.
Originally from Pakistan and raised in Dubai, Zaman made the move to Canada in 2008 in pursuit of a career in banking.
He gave that up for music after cashing in on the success of his first album Waking Up, released in 2015, followed by Fly Home in 2016.
Zaman has performed at prestigious music festivals such as The Winnebago Folk fest, Edmonton Folk Fest, Calgary Folk Fest, and Canmore Folk Fest.
Earlier this year, he was appointed to be the first Artist in Residence at the Edmonton Folk Festival, and is currently travelling on the Home Routes concert tour in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
“In a few weeks I will be playing in a house near you, and would love to meet you,” he said in an email.
“My shows are intimate, filled with original songs, and a couple of classics that you may recognize.”
He said his aim is to connect and share stories about his life and cultural background, while striving to deliver his best pleasurable listening experience.
Zaman said the audience will hear some ethnic influences, blended with North-American folky-ness.
As hosts of the Zaman concert, the Burns remind their audience to bring their own beverages to go with snacks they provide during the intermission.
This is the third season the Burns have hosted the Home Routes concert series.
